Proteases and Enzymes

Proteases are classified into several categories based on their catalytic mechanism, such as serine proteases, cysteine proteases, aspartic proteases, metalloproteases and threonine proteases. Proteases are important targets for drug development, as their dysregulation has been linked to many diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and viral infections. Inhibitors of specific proteases have been developed as potential therapeutic agents for these diseases.
